Why pay a professional web designer?
My cousin or my kids can design web pages and I've seen free website makers online, so why pay a professional web designer?
Because like all other professions or trades, web development is a professional art. There are science behind it. We are educated and professionals, developing great, customized, efficient and user-friendly websites that fulfill your business or personal goals by focusing on your users need.
If your cousin tell you I can change the oil on your car, would you also let him rebuild your engine? Of course not - you leave that to a professional mechanic/machine shop. SAME WITH WEB DEVELOPMENT.

Free website templates are not recommended, because they are limiting in terms of design and what you can do, and they are hard to optimize for Search Engines. But again, it all depends on your goal for your business. Where do you see yourself?
Did your friends who paid a for a template website, succeed in their business? Do you want to just have a non-functional website to show it to your friends or do you want a website that your customers can find you easily.

If you're
advertising on media, the odds are either you don't know if your Ad/commercial
is working or you're disappointed in its response.
If so, most likely you wrote/designed that Ad/commercial, or the account executive who sold you the Ad.
If you or your office manager wrote/designed the Ad/commercial or told the agency what you wanted them to say/design, don't blame media.
Let's be honest: Are expert of your industry or are you an expert in advertising?
Or perhaps did you settle for having the agency write and produce it because they would do it for "free."
Is that what you tell your customers -- that if they want expert service they should find someone who will do it for free? Or should they do it themselves and brag about it.
